About the project
In the wake of severe flooding triggered by Typhoon Yagi across Southern Shan State, this emergency recovery initiative delivered immediate humanitarian relief paired with structured psychosocial rehabilitation for vulnerable lakeside and urban communities. Implemented in close coordination with local community working groups and volunteers across Taunggyi and the Inle Basin, the intervention prioritised both physical welfare and collective emotional healing. Field teams distributed customized post-flood recovery care kits to severely affected households while navigating localised logistics, cultural nuances, and language barriers. Operating within community gathering spaces, the project facilitated structured psychosocial support sessions and community reflection workshops, creating safe environments for residents to process trauma, articulate emerging recovery priorities, and restore mutual solidarity. Achieving full milestone completion across all target areas, the intervention models an integrated post-crisis response: uniting rapid material distribution with community-led psychological first aid to reinforce long-term social resilience.
