About the project

Delivered in partnership with Grab, this tactical urbanism project transformed an underutilised streetscape adjacent to Kantharyar Centre into an active, multi-modal public realm. The intervention addresses urban density by integrating compact green infrastructure, dedicated bicycle facilities, and accessible public seating designed to encourage social interaction and pedestrian linger time.

Beyond spatial upgrades, the project directly supports local micro-entrepreneurs by co-designing and deploying upgraded, climate-resilient mobile vending carts. By combining informal street-vending economics with structured public space design, the initiative strengthens local livelihoods, enhances street safety, and establishes a scalable prototype for public-private placemaking in high-density commercial hubs.
