About the project

Supported by the Adaptation Research Alliance (ARA), this action-research project addressed acute urban flooding and water scarcity across informal settlements in peri-urban Yangon. Doh Eain collaborated with four local grassroots organisations to evaluate climate risks and co-create practical solution prototypes on-site. The initiative mobilised local residents through participatory surveys and design sessions, culminating in an evidence-based research report and a practical adaptation toolkit featuring 36 community-tested infrastructure solutions. By pairing local lived experience with action research, the project established scalable, low-cost adaptation strategies for informal settlements facing growing climate vulnerability.
